White & Cane room
Hyderabad (Ongoing)
Hyderabad (Ongoing)
The white and cane room located in Hyderabad, is a single bedroom renovation project. The room is designed proposed a neutral base upon which colors are thrown, The room is broken into three subspaces : The Bedroom, The walk in wardrobe and the bathroom. All three spaces have the same flooring, a natural stone. The stone will be laid out in a pattern, to bring out the texture and personality of the stone. The stone changes in texture as it moves into each subspace.
The Main bedroom has two access points to the balcony, the bed is placed in the center of the room. As there were many restrictions that does not allow us to renovate the ceiling, we decided to use the existing beams, cladding it in wood. This allows us to bring in the wiring and support for the two pendant lights on either side of the bed.
A large rug, brings together the furniture. The addition of the ottomans and placing the existing sofa at the foot of the bed insures proper usage of the piece. The ottoman, allows the clients young children to play and jump in the space.
The bed back is designed with wood and fabric, the form molds itself to the head of the bed.
The Sliding door in between the bedroom and the wardrobe was to be re-used, therefor we are proposing to wrap the same with rattan weave. The client requested a study corner, therefore the existing window is reused for the same. An antique coffee table will be re-used as the desk.
The existing open wardrobe will be closed up with classical beaded shutters. The hardware in brass. The neutral tones matches well with the flooring, the lighter tones makes the space seem larger.
The pendant light and the rug is added to centre the space, the added accessories like the pouf and the standalone mirror accentuate the room.
The bathroom flooring and wall cladding, currently marble is being changed to the selected stone that runs in the bedroom and wardrobe. The freestanding basin changes to a vanity unit. The freestanding basin provides no storage therefore serves no purpose for a private bathroom without proper storage space. The classical theme continues from the wardrobe to the bathroom, with antique mirror detailing.
