Bhagavathi Mane, home to a young family in Udupi, Puttur. The architecture of the house designed by Studio Neralu is local and traditional with the purpose of expressing the local craft. This was a theme that followed through to the furniture that we designed. Using solid teak wood, most of which was re-used from the architectural waste we tried to maintain a fine balance between modern lines and traditional craft. Embroidery and cane work was introduced in the design process and sourced from hand mills close to the site.

The Nook, uses one material, molding it to make a minimal and aesthetic side table. It has been designed to cater to be highly ascetic for the sleepy user, aiming to minimize the number of actions a person would make to reach their end function. Something as simple as sliding in a book, to opening a drawer. However aesthetically, it also allows one to place the table in both modern as well as traditional spaces.
Nook is bedside table designed for the sleepy user.
